Between Bridges Residency\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Between Bridges is pleased to announce the open call for the next two biannual residencies for visual artists. One residency will take place from January to June 2024, the other from July to December 2024. They will each be divided into a five month working phase and a one month exhibition or public presentation. The upcoming recipients will follow artist and filmmaker Yalda Afsah (first half of 2023) and the collective Viscose (second half of 2023).<\/p>\n

Eligibility <\/b>
\nThe residency is suitable for professional individual visual artists, artist duos or small groups working collaboratively. One or more visual artists will be supported, though artists enrolled at a university at the time of application are not eligible to apply (excluding artists enrolled in PhD programs). The criteria for awarding the residency is primarily the quality of the application and work submitted.<\/p>\n

Scope of residency <\/b>
\nThe residency includes the use of the facilities at Keithstra\u00dfe 15 in Berlin Sch\u00f6neberg on the ground floor of a residential building, with Wittenbergplatz subway station located nearby. In addition to two generous work and exhibition spaces, the facilities with a total size of 100 sqm include a workshop\/storage, office, small kitchen and bathroom. We regret that the rooms are not yet wheelchair accessible or suitable for living. The residency includes a monthly stipend of 1500 EUR. It also offers the opportunity for studio visits with arts professionals from the network of Between Bridges. For the exhibition, a production budget will be granted. The exhibition connected to the first residency in 2024 will open at the end of April during Gallery Weekend Berlin. The exhibition connected to the second residency in 2024 will take place end of the year. The exhibitions will be promoted via Between Bridges\u2019 distribution channels and documented on our website.<\/p>\n

Application procedure <\/b>
\nThe application consists of a CV with a portfolio (pdf file, max. 10 MB, max. 10 A4 pages including CV, if applicable with links to moving image and\/or sound works), as well as a short proposal of the project and the exhibition concept (max. half a page). The maximum page number is the same for group applications. The deadline for applications is 21 October 2023 (12 am CET). Applicants might indicate a preferred residency period (first half of 2024, second half of 2024, no preference). The documents can be submitted in German or English to residency@betweenbridges.net<\/a>. We only accept digital applications. A jury will review the applications. Please note we can only contact successful applicants. The awarded residents will be notified by early November 2023.<\/p>\n

About Between Bridges<\/b>
\nBetween Bridges is a foundation (est. 2017 by Wolfgang Tillmans) committed to humanism, solidarity, and the advancement of democracy. It supports the arts, LGBT+ rights and anti-racism work. Between Bridges is also a non-profit exhibition space, initiated in 2006 by Wolfgang Tillmans.
