In fact, when preparing this issue, we were surprised at what a compelling effect (American) pop culture continues to exert, even in this age of war and crisis, and a United States that appears to be anything but \u201cgreat again.\u201d Common to all of the artists presented is how they take recourse to pictures derived from everyday life or the media, before placing them in new contexts and constellations.
