Description
The artists Martin Behr and Martin Osterider, both born 1964 in Graz, have been embarking since 2003 on photographic forays into the Triester district of Graz, where they grew up. They take paths familiar to both from the frequent family strolls of their childhood. The book series Triester has been published since 2013 in the Edition Camera Austria—as an interminable image archive about an urban district, based on the continual surveying of a public space. In the summer of 2021, Behr and Osterider were invited to be guest artists by Club Hybrid, which was also situated at the edge of the Triester district. This volume shows a selection of Behr and Osterider’s photographs made during a workshop in the vicinity of Club Hybrid; pictures taken by the photographer Stefan Lozar, one of the participants, also feature in this book. The detailed nature of the photographs, along with the interest in overlooked and marginal subjects so evident in this volume, corresponds to the limited area of the urban space explored during the workshop.
