Preface

In his contribution on Kaucyila Brooke, Martin Prinzhorn presents an artist who is devoted to a highly complex photographic practice: on the one hand, she reflects on the theoretical implications of the medium, visualising them in her work. But these are never the sole principal subject of her artistic work, on the contrary: above and beyond a methodical / theoretical context of reflection, Brooke uses her photographs to explore subjects that belong to the mutually conditional (diametrically opposed) relationship of personal experience / own identity and political claim.
