Intro
Work, chance, or speculation? Monopoly and McDonald’s? How can we inch a bit closer to the sun? A roll of the dice decides! In this lecture performance, Luise Marchand and Christin Müller activate the playing field of Marchand’s work group Schicht zur Sonne (Shift toward the Sun, 2026). The playing fields tap into different narratives of work, speculation, and hope of climbing the social ladder: WORK, PAY, STAY, CHANCE, or FRYER. The point of departure is McDonald’s as a workplace, brand icon, and recurring image in art and pop culture. Topics include Luise Marchand’s experience as a rotational employee, art-historical references, and the question of how consumption and success are staged culturally.
